Create a Bold Table with sengWare Dinnerware

One of the nicest thing about sengWare is the bold look you can create with it on your dinner table. Sold in a 4 piece place setting, it encourages you to mix and match to create an eclectic setting. My favorite is to mix the Heaven shade of blue with the Pistachio green. It really brings a modern retro flare to any meal.

It pays to have a few settings in all of the different colors so you can select which one to use by the dish you are serving. I love serving cream based soups in the Blueberry shade and nothing looks nicer than a red pasta sauce on the plain white. Really, all the colors have their place, so you can add new colors to your collection little by little.

Choose from a square or round place setting and add in cocktail plates and a 48 ounce pitcher filled with water to dress your table up even more. Cook up some individual bread puddings in the cute ramekins and you have instant portion control. Something we can all use during the holiday eating-fest.

You can even use it to have a tea party gift exchange on Christmas morning. The tea pot has a hip asymmetrical look and holds a full 36 ounces of freshly brewed Earl Grey. Cook up an orange cranberry coffee cake in the sengWare casserole dish and then serve it up on the hors d’oeuvre plates. You can even put an assortment of scones on one of the platters. The ramekins are perfect for orange marmalade and clotted cream.

sengWare is based in Seattle and prides itself on making its dinnerware with fine grade natural clay. Their unique manufacturing process creates a material that is sturdier than porcelain, and at the same time, more refined than ceramic. They are also 100% lead and cadmium free which is a comfort.

Not only is sengWare dishwasher safe, but you can also put it in the oven, microwave, and freezer. It has more resistance to retaining smells due to its low permeability, which also helps it be stronger. They also perform well in changing temperatures, within reason, after all they are still ceramic. You’ll get even baking in the oven and easy cleaning afterwords. Made to please a professional chef as well as the home cook.

Once you try sengWare you might find it hard to use anything else!

Noritake Holiday Table

There’s nothing like the winter holidays to give me the decorating bug. I love a season that I can bring a live tree in the house and a reason to enjoy my holly bush outside my front door. It doesn’t matter if you’re a snowman person or a Santa Claus one. Either way you’ll get to share the spirit with your friends and neighbors.

While you are putting up your wreath and tree, make sure to get your table ready for the holidays too. The day after Thanksgiving is when most families begin making their houses into winter wonderlands. If you get a head start, it’s easier to plan all of your parties early. There is nothing more stressful than waiting until the day of a party to get your special dishes down and clean them. Plus if you have them down early you can enjoy them during more meals.

The Noritake holiday collection has a wide array of dinnerware to match whatever your theme is. Aria Christmas pattern is perfect for a contemporary color scheme that includes silver. I have a small silver tree that I decorate with blue and white ornaments. I plan on having it decorate my buffet table for my annual pre-Christmas cocktail party. The silver holiday accent pattern is perfect for an assortment of hors d’oeuvres. Plus they are just the right size to carry while you mingle with all your friends.

Another great party idea is to have friends over for dessert and coffee. I like to set up a coffee bar with everything imaginable for my guests to add in their cup. I put out bowls of whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Of course, an assortment of liquors never hurts. It’s perfect for the Noritake accent mugs in Aria or Palace patterns. You can choose a border of silver or gold to match your favorite holiday color.

For the big Christmas dinner, you’ll want to match your serving ware with your dishes. I recommend Noritake Holly and Berry Gold. It has a beautiful repeated pattern of green holly and lush red berries rimmed with a thin line of gold. The 5 piece plate setting is only $49.95, and you can add to your collection each year.

There are matching Holly and Berry Gold serving dishes and platters that will give your table a beautiful uniform look. My onion dip made with non fat Greek yogurt works perfectly in the rectangle chip and dip set. I like to serve mine with fresh veggies and baked whole wheat crackers.

You can even put out the matching cookie jar with your other holiday decorations. All your visitors will enjoy the multitude of homemade cookies that you fill it with. Try out a few new to you cookie recipes to add to repertoire. Who knows, it might be next year’s favorites.
