Cocktail Party
Tailor Your Cocktail Party for Spring
Spring is my favorite season. It’s the perfect time to throw a cocktail party. I love to have Friday night cocktail gatherings on my deck. If my garden is in between blooms I bring out a few houseplants and vases of brightly colored tulips and daffodils. Plus if the weather doesn’t turn out the way you planned, you can move the flowers inside too. After all, the weather in spring can be unpredictable.
Friday night is the perfect time to kick off the weekend with friends. If you work during the day, make sure you don’t stress over making a major meal or even you can hire a cocktail party catering. You can make it as simple as hummus and pita chips or cheese and crackers. Make sure to have some food around in case someone comes straight from work.
For the cocktail party menus, my favorite finger food is flat-bread pizzas cut into small pieces. Not only is it tasty, but super easy to make. Buy some oval shaped whole wheat flat-bread and lightly spread it with pesto or marinara sauce. Roast some asparagus tossed with olive oil in the oven for 10 minutes, then chop it into small bite sized pieces. Top your pizza with this and goat cheese for a spring version of the pizza.
Try topping your pizzas with your favorite ingredients and also try some fresh mozzarella. Make pesto with herbs from your garden as they come back up. It’s also a great pizza base. Dress up you appetizers by plating them up on your best Noritake Colorwave dinnerware plates. Serve your cocktails in real glasses too while you are at it. If you empty your dishwasher the night before your cocktail parties, it’s just as easy to put real glasses into the dishwasher as it is to throw away a bunch of plastic cups. Plus, it’s more eco-friendly to reuse what you already have.
Make your drink around mint or thyme. Mix some herb infused simple syrup with some citrus juice and strawberry puree. It’s a perfect base for rum, gin, even tequila. It’s a great way to celebrate spring and holiday cocktail party.
