Benefits of Aluminum Cookware
Now, aluminum cookware has been improved a lot from the early days and has been around for a long time. Aluminum cookware has same popular types of stainless steel and cast iron. Even, today more than half of all cookware sold is made of aluminum. Aluminum has a lot of fans because it is safe for cooking highly acidic or salty foods.
You must know that is available many kinds of aluminum cookware, such as anodized, cast or pressed aluminum.
First, it’s pressed aluminum. It is the cheapest in other price’s aluminum. You can find it in retail store or supermarket. It is thin in thickness and usually has screw in type handle. It has not good durability; you will get what you pay for. I don’t recommend you this type, because you will spend much money in long run.
The second, it is cast aluminum. You may often hear about cast iron, and sometimes about cast aluminum. Cast aluminum has thicker than pressed aluminum. And it has more expensive process and slower. Its rim and bottom can be made thicker than the sidewall. It makes aluminum cookware to warp or go out of round. You know, beside the copper, aluminum has good conductivity. Cast aluminum cookware is more porous than pressed aluminum which makes for better heat transferring.
The last is anodized aluminum. It’s the top of the line. And also it has the best price than other aluminum. But that price will change your needs be more benefits. Anodized aluminum cookware trough a process called is electro-chemical process. It increases the natural oxide film in aluminum and gives the aluminum a hard non oxidizing finish which is scratch resistant and nonstick. It doesn’t react with acidic and salty foods. And anodized aluminum’s surface also becomes harder than steel. There are many different in anodized aluminum than other aluminum like pressed or cast. In anodized aluminum, you will get a lot of benefits according you pay for buying it. It’s nonstick, light weight, and easy to clean.
